Proferrin ES from Colorado Biolabs is a dietary supplement used to support levels of iron in the blood already within the normal range.
It is a dietary supplement in the form of an oral heme iron polypeptide that works to support healthy ferritin levels and seeks to make iron absorption easier.
Ferritin is a blood cell protein the body produces, which binds to iron and carefully stores and releases it. It also acts as a buffer against iron deficiency and iron overload. Ferritin is found in the liver, spleen, muscles and bone marrow. Small amounts of ferritin are also found in the blood. That’s what is measured to test iron levels in the body.
Heme is a natural form of iron derived from animal sources that may help maintain normal iron levels. Once the body absorbs iron, it becomes a part of hemoglobin, which carry oxygen through the blood to tissues and organs. It also becomes a part of myoglobin, which helps the muscle cells store oxygen. Humans usually get enough iron in the foods they eat. However, if a deficiency is present, it may be potentially beneficial to take an iron supplement to fill any nutritional gaps in the diet.

Other Ingredients: microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, silicon dioxide, calcium stearate, povidone, and green coating (polyvinyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol, talc, FD&C yellow #5 (aluminum lake), FD&C blue #2 (aluminum lake), titanium dioxide).

Proferrin does not have the usual iron supplement that is in over-the-counter products. Instead, it contains "Heme Iron" - meaning it comes straight from pure organic sources, such as liver. You need much fewer miligrams, because it's better utilized by the body. Therefore you also don't experience constipation - like with high doses of regular iron supplements.
