For centuries, Red Yeast Rice (RYR) has been used in China as both a food and as a medicinal substance. By fermenting a type of yeast called Monascus purpureus over red rice, you inturn make Red Yeast Rice. Through the centuries, in Chinese Medicine, RYR has been used to assist:
- blood circulation
- soothe upset stomach
- help invigorate the function of the spleen (a body organ that destroys old blood cells and filters foreign substances)
- RYR may help maintain cholesterol levels.
LDL cholesterol is known as "bad" cholesterol, due to elevated levels of LDL cholesterol being associated with an increased risk of coronary heart illness. LDL lipoprotein deposits cholesterol on artery walls, causing the formation of hard, thick substances called cholesterol plaque. As a result of this process, over time cholesterol plaque causes the thickening of artery walls and narrowing of the arteries.
Suggested Usage
As a dietary supplement for adults and children 12 or more years of age, take two capsules twice daily, or as directed by a qualified healthcare professional.

My endocrinologist suggested that I try red yeast rice to lower my bad cholesterol. I used another brand taking nine capsules per day for over a year with only a slight improvement. She told me that another patient had success with the Vinco brand. I tried it taking four capsules per day and within a few months my level was reduced to where it needed to be. Bonus: the Vinco brand costs less than the ineffective brand!
