Zinc is an essential trace element involved in most major metabolic pathways. General signs of human zinc deficiency indicate that zinc has important functions in helping maintain immune function, reproduction, healthy skin, and growth. Zinc is thought to help support the fundamental role of a normal immune response in humans. Immune cells must be able to rapidly divide in order to respond to daily challenges. Zinc was one of the elements of regimen my doctor suggested in the fall to help with my continual viral infections. I am beginning to think that the zinc was a big part of it. This particular one I really liked and seemed to be able to take it with or without food. I have not had a single virus or flu episode all winter and spring. That was amazing to me. Douglas Labs is a quality product.
