Spirulina is rich in Beta-Carotene (Vitamin A) and Vitamin B-12, and has naturally occurring protein and GLA (Gamma Linolenic Acid), a popular fatty acid with numerous health benefits. In addition, Spirulina has naturally occurring minerals, trace elements, cell salts, amino acids and enzymes.
Additionally, Now's Spirulina is a very high quality, naturally and organically grown, physically and nutrient dense food. They deliberately formulated these tablets to be free of excipients and tableting aids in order to provide 100% pure Spirulina in tablet form. Adding excipients & tableting aids would have accelerated disintegration times to meet a 30-60 minute arbitrary disintegration time, but Now Foods specifically chose to provide customers with a 100% pure food product in tablet form instead.
