SAMe (S-adenosyl-L-methionine) is a molecule that is naturally formed in the body. SAMe is a methyl donor in a process essential to normal cell health and function known as methylation. The methylation process can decline with age or as a result of chronic alcohol consumption, and it can be limited by genetic defects.*
SAMe contributes to the synthesis, activation, and metabolism of neurotransmitters, proteins, nucleic acids, phospholipids, hormones, and some drugs. It supports glutathione production, liver health, joint comfort, and a healthy mood.*
