I've used lysine for several years due to severe cold sore outbreaks. I take 2 capsules daily all year long. I feel it works best for me to take it continuously to keep it in my system. If I wait to feel a cold sore outbreak to take it, it doesn't help so I have to take Aclovir. Haven't needed to take Aclovir in years now.
