Dry Eyes

by Jacquie Eubanks BSN, RN

The flow of tears is critical to the health of your eyes, which depend on them for constant moisture and lubrication in order to maintain your vision and eye comfort. Most people do not know that tears are a combination of water for moisture, oils for lubrication, mucus for spreading evenly, and antibodies for resistance to infections. We have special glands around our eyes that secrete the tears. If the tear system has an imbalance, dry eyes can be the result.

Some Dry Eye Symptoms

* Pain
* Sensitivity To Light
* A Sensation Of Grittiness In The Eye
* Feels Like Something May Be In The Eye
* Itching
* Redness
* Blurred Vision

Oddly enough, you may see a person that has dry eyes with tears running down their cheeks. This happens when the eye is not getting enough lubricant, a signal is sent to the brain, which is responded to by causing the eye to fill up with tears. The tears from this response are mostly water and lack the other components needed to protect the eye.

Causes Of Dry Eyes

There are other causes of dry eyes besides an imbalance in the tear producing system. Even dry air from air-conditioning, heat, wind or airborne pollutants can cause dry eyes.

Other causes may be:

* The Aging Process, Including Menopause
* Drug Side Effects, Like Antihistamines Or Birth Control Pills
* Certain Diseases: Sjogren’s Syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis
* Eye Lids Do Not Close Properly, A Structural Problem
* Lasik Surgery Or Contact Lenses

How Dry Eyes Are Treated

By far, the most common treatment is to use artificial tear formulas. Even though artificial tear formulas are convenient, they are only treating the symptoms and not the cause. The root cause is that the body is not producing the components required for healthy tear formation.

Don’t you think it makes more sense to give your body an all-natural remedy so that it can make its own healthy tears? Well, people are doing this everyday by making use of a cutting edge product produced by BioSyntrx, called BioTears. Researchers at BioSyntrx came up with a formula that has consistently shown positive results at aiding the body to produce its own tears.

Each and every ingredient in BioTears has been proven in clinical studies to improve tear production, and even support the production of lubricants in other parts of the body, such as: mucous membranes of the mouth and vagina, and synovial fluids in the joints. BioTears contains the optimal mixture of the Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, which provide potent anti-inflammatory properties.

BioTears also contain APO-Lactoferrin, which has been shown to inhibit the growth of both viral and bacterial pathogens in the tear film layer covering your eyes. The fact that this nutriceutical comes in gelcaps means that you can count on increased absorption and quicker uptake into your body.
