Red Yeast Rice is a preparation made from a yeast that is commercially grown on rice grains. The rice and yeast, which is deep red in color, are ground up into a red powder. NuMedica’s red yeast rice is citrinin-free.
Suggested Usage
Adults take one capsule daily or as directed by your healthcare practitioner.

Other Ingredients: Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (vegetable capsule), microcrystalline cellulose, L-leucine, bamboo silica.
Does Not Contain: Milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy. Gluten-free and Vegetarian.
Warnings
It has not been confirmed whether red yeast rice inhibits the body's production of CoQ10. Therefore, you may wish to supplement with CoQ10 while taking this product.
Do not use if: you are taking prescription drugs; you are allergic to yeast; you have liver problems or a serious infection; you are recovering from major surgery; you drink more than two alcoholic beverages a day; or if you are an organ transplant recipient. Not intended for use by children.

Lowered my total cholesterol AND my LDL cholesterol

NuMedica's Red Yeast Rice Extra Strength is the first red yeast rice supplement that I've tried that actually works. My total cholesterol went from 196 to 122, and my LDL decreased from 71 to 45. In combination with exercise (5x a week) and a more or less healthy diet (I eat vegan or vegetarian 3x a week) this stuff really works to lower your cholesterol. Be sure to take it with Co-Q10, as it will strip your body of Co-Q10 just like any other statin.
