Genoma Cardia

Designed by Dr. Peter J. D'Adamo, Genoma Cardia is a unique cardiovascular support formula that features a synergistic blend of time-honored botanicals, amino acids and nutriceuticals. Based on Dr. D'Adamo's three decades of clinical experience, Genoma Cardia encapsulates the most current naturopathic research on how to best support and strengthen the heart, assist in the maintenance of healthy blood pressure, and insure optimum strength and resilience of the arteries and vasculature.

He began by basing the formula on the legendary herb known as Hawthorn (Crataegus oxyacantha). Hawthorn has been used since the Middle Ages to promote the health of the circulatory system, treat high blood pressure, and strengthen the heart. It has been extensively studied both in the US and in Europe. One study of 78 subjects found significant improvement in exercise tolerance and lower blood pressure and heart rate during exercise. Another study, following 32 subjects who used a hawthorn supplement for 8 weeks, found improved exercise tolerance as well as a reduction in the incidence and severity of shortness of breath. Fatigue decreased by approximately 50% in these subjects as well

To the Hawthorn base he added two traditional world medicines: The Ayurvedic herb Arjuna bark, a traditional herb used for centuries in the Himalayas to promote effective cardiac functioning, proper cholesterol levels and healthy blood pressure and Dan Shen (Red Sage Root) a renowned herb in Chinese traditional medicine that contains several unique phytochemicals with cardio-protective and antioxidant properties.

Genoma Cardia also features two nutrients commonly used in naturopathic practice to support healthy cardiovascular function:

• Taurine, an amino acid found in high levels in meat and fish, has a myriad of health benefits. It is by far the most abundant free amino acid in cardiac tissue, indicating its high degree of requirement. It is frequently used in the treatment of congestive heart failure (CHF), high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Low levels of taurine have long been associated in cardiomyopathy (heart enlargement). In addition to helping to regulate the heart beat and maintaining cell membrane stability, Taurine assists in the detoxification and removal of xenobiotic (man-made) chemicals.
• Co Enzyme Q10, a vitamin-like compound produced by the human body, is necessary for the basic functioning of every cell in our body. CoQ10 levels are reported to decrease with age and to be low in patients with some chronic diseases.
